The Investment Fund for Central and Eastern Europe (IØ) was founded by law in 1989. The objective of IØ is to promote Danish investment in Central and Eastern Europe and thus support the reformist countries in their efforts to achieve increased economic, commercial and industrial development and to improve the possibility of closer economic co-operation between Denmark and Central and Eastern Europe. Since it was established, IØ has invested in more than 430 projects in central and eastern European countries. The Danish government resolved that, effective 1 July 2010, IØ would no longer make any new investments, and that it would gradually be wound up as it completes its financial commitment in current projects.
