IØ’s objective is that our investments should be sustainable and help secure environmental and socially responsible development in the projects and countries where we invest. Therefore we have developed a CSR policy covering:
IØ’s CSR policy includes a set of operational guidelines to be used by our business partners and us.
IØ's CSR objectives and activities must be anchored in the business strategies of the project companies and must be fully adapted to and integrated into their procedures and operations. IØ will induce each project company to adopt a written CSR policy, which clearly defines and describes its vision, strategy and operational guidelines. The project companies must strive to constantly improve their own CSR policies, standards and performance and promote these towards their suppliers where relevant.
Handbook
The policy is supplemented with a handbook. The handbook is written for the project companies and other project partners with whom we cooperate. The handbook elaborates on how IØ's CSR policy should be understood and interpreted. It provides recommendations on how the project companies can work with CSR issues in their daily operations. The recommendations are based on IØ's long experience with CSR in developing countries. The handbook, which includes all parts of the CSR policy in one publication, may be used as a reference document, and thus each chapter can be read separately.
IØ does not finance projects, which produce goods and services that are prohibited in Denmark for any environmental, human rights or other CSR reasons.
For whom is the CSR policy relevant?
All projects in which IØ invests must comply with the CSR policy.
Projects established before the implementation of IØ’s CSR policy in 2006 must as a minimum comply with the environmental policy and Code of Conduct which applied at the time of the project agreement. But IØ encourages these projects as well to comply with the CSR policy, which many of them already do.
